On May 13th, the works for the enhancement and regeneration of the new Terminal 3 at Fiumicino Airport were officially inaugurated. These works were initiated by our Asset Company Aeroporti di Roma in 2021 and completed with a total investment of over 250 million euros.

The infrastructure, operational since 1961 and representing a significant example of unique architecture and engineering in the international airport landscape, has been enhanced through an intervention designed and executed by ADR Infrastrutture and ADR Ingegneria. This intervention aimed to improve operational efficiency and the travel experience for the millions of extra-Schengen passengers who transit through the airport today, adhering to the highest standards of safety and technological innovation.

The enhancement of Terminal 3 at "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport, preceded by a complete facelift that restored its original architectural values of visual permeability and natural light, was carried out while ensuring the continuous operation of the airport over the four years of work. The project covered an area of 41,000 square meters distributed over three levels, comparable in size to about six football fields.

The regeneration of T3 at Fiumicino Airport involved over 25 Italian companies and numerous strategic areas of T3. Specifically, six check-in islands were renewed with 150 new counters, bringing the infrastructure to a total of 248 counters, 60 of which can be used autonomously by passengers. The number of baggage belts was increased from 9 to 14, doubling the total length from approximately 400 meters to 800 meters, ensuring greater capacity and flexibility for baggage handling. The security check area for sensitive flights was renewed with 11 RX machines, and the transit flight areas were upgraded. Additionally, the building's structure was reinforced, and the systems were modernized by enhancing seismic resistance through structural reinforcements and new fire protection systems, including over 3,100 detectors, 88 smoke extractors, and 15 new air handling units. To ensure an even more modern and functional environment, the lighting was also renewed.
