The facility, designed and built according to innovative criteria to limit overheating, will accommodate up to 600 people across 70 offices and 35 meeting rooms.

On 23 July 2026, Aeroporti di Roma, part of our Group, inaugurated ‘Open – FCO Smart Workplace’, the new state-of-the-art office complex located in front of Terminal 1 at Leonardo da Vinci Airport. The new infrastructure will further strengthen the role of Fiumicino – named Europe’s best airport for the eighth time since 2018 – as an integrated, sustainable hub serving a major economic and employment ecosystem that includes airlines, businesses, professionals and operators.

While naturally geared towards serving the aviation sector, Open, with its strategic location, can also become a point of reference for businesses requiring meeting facilities and spaces for networking and corporate hospitality at Rome Fiumicino Airport.

Covering an area of 16,000 square metres, Open offers modular spaces for both exclusive and shared use, as well as dedicated areas for business meetings, conferences, events and workshops, alongside environments designed to foster collaboration, interaction and networking.

Designed by ADR Ingegneria and ADR Infrastrutture in accordance with the most advanced criteria for sustainability and architectural innovation – with the aim of achieving LEED certification – the office complex was built with low environmental impact materials, including the inclined façades specifically designed to limit overheating of the building and improve indoor comfort.

During construction, innovative solutions contributing to raise safety standards were adopted, such as the AI-powered smart video surveillance system continuously monitoring activities and automatically detecting any unauthorised access to restricted areas or failure to use personal protective equipment.

In line with Mundys’ and ADR’s sustainability strategy, Open also features a photovoltaic system with a capacity of approximately 67 kWp. The complex is also equipped with a Building Management System (BMS) for the smart monitoring of energy consumption and space utilisation, a low-energy LED lighting system and a dual water network enabling industrial water to be used for services and building systems.

The inauguration of Open marks another important step forward in the development of Rome Fiumicino Airport. Through determination and creativity, ADR has succeeded in transforming the capital’s hub into the best airport in Europe, placing service quality, sustainable growth and innovation at the heart of its strategy. The ability to constantly reinvent ourselves and break new ground is essential to achieving tangible results. In this regard, we will continue to support ADR, particularly in the challenge of delivering the airport’s sustainable development plan within the required timeframe. This is a project of significant public interest that has the potential to create shared value for the community of Fiumicino and the national economy,” said our Chairman Alessandro Benetton.
