Atlantia: Vigeo and GRESB upgrade sustainability ratings

CET 10.25 Rome, 5 October 2021. Vigeo Eiris (V.E.), a part of Moody's ESG Solutions, one of the leading international ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) rating agencies, has assigned Atlantia a score of 59/100, marking a significant improvement on the previous rating of 47/100. This reflects its assessment that the Company’s overall approach is “Robust”, up from the previous “Limited”. The upgrade means that Atlantia now ranks 6th out of 42 businesses in the transport sector rated by V.E. at global level.

The upgrade in this important rating reflects a major improvement in social aspects linked to the business and in assets under management (+19 points compared with the sector average), to our leadership with regard to environmental aspects with a score of 72/100, and the high degree of stakeholder transparency, which stands at 93% (+14 points compared with the sector).

GRESB Infrastructure Public Disclosure, the international agency that specialises in the assessment of infrastructure businesses, has also upgraded Atlantia with a rating of B (up from the previous C) for ESG transparency. The Company ranks 2nd out of 8 infrastructure companies in the transport sector.

These new ratings have been achieved just a few weeks after confirmation of the Company’s presence in the FTSE4Good index (used by market operators to create and assess responsible investment funds), its inclusion by Refinitiv (which manages a global database for financial markets and provides ESG ratings for over 10,000 businesses) among the 25 greenest stocks listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, and the upgrade of the Company’s rating to BBB by the international agency, MSCI ESG Ratings (which specialises in assessing the sustainability performances of around 2,800 businesses). Last week, Atlantia also announced that the 5 airports operated by its subsidiaries, Aeroporti di Roma (Fiumicino and Ciampino) and Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur (Nice, Cannes and Saint Tropez), had received the highest level of carbon neutrality certification from the international body, Airport Carbon Accreditation, out of a total of 8 airports throughout the world classified in this category.
